Our Mission
Alamos Language & Learning (ALL) facilitates rewarding language educational opportunities in Spanish and English and encourages life-long learning that enriches the individual as well as the greater community.
Educational Philosophy
The teachers at ALL encourage students to immerse themselves in the language and culture as much as possible by participating in lessons conducted in the target language and then by practicing outside the classroom in the “real world.” To facilitate this transition, ALL’s instructors take a communicative approach that utilizes grammar in context. They strive to blend experiential and classroom learning and use a combination of techniques. An example of experiential learning includes a tour conducted in Spanish to a nearby colonial mining town and/or a trip to the local market. As well, ALL’s staff believes that the student remains in charge of his or her own language education; the service that the teacher provides is a structured support to the learning that takes place in context once the student leaves the classroom.
Language
trade
By participating in ALL’s Spanish immersion program you will automatically
be contributing funds that help support ALL’s English as a Foreign Language
program. ALL’s staff likes to think of this as a “language trade”—Spanish
for English and vice versa.
ALL hires native-speaker teachers from the local community whenever possible
and always pays a living wage.
